Pros

- Free lunch three days a week - Cool office

Cons

- TERRIBLE work life balance. This would be alright if the job evolved and work were interesting. See following points for details. You will work into the night several times per month - Ideas spawned within teams are quashed by upper management. It seems backward, but in-line with big bureaucracies, that people far from the day-to-day determine the solutions to problems. - When I started everyone on my team pursued skills to make operations smoother and more accurate. Now team members are a success if they learn the basics, and aren't challenged to do more. - You are a cog in the wheel. I was hired with the promise of improving processes and tools. The company doesn't keep up with hiring and as a result the menial, time consuming tasks take up more of the day. This leads to less tool building, and ever more manual processes. Creativity quashed, efficiency decreasing. -- Promotions within take as long as the hiring process. Indeed you may have the degrees and projects to show your worth, but in the end showcasing that you can be a good cog is more important than your breadth of knowledge or ability to create - The view management has of the company seems out of line with reality. The company has aggressive hiring goals, but people leave at a fairly rapid pace.

MuleSoft employees have a strong sense of pride for being a part of the team, share our successes and look forward to taking us to the next phase. It looks like your experience here has been less than stellar. I would like to help change that. To put things into context, MuleSoft is one of the fastest growing enterprise software companies. We are a rare success story in the technology arena. We see this as a validation of our products and vision in the marketplace. We take pride in the caliber of our team and set the bar really high. This is also true for operational functions and that’s for a reason: Building an efficient operational cadence and rigor is critically important as the company prepares for each new stage of growth. Understandably, supporting MuleSoft’s phenomenal growth while at the same time building new processes and paving roads for the company is a demanding job. That’s why we hire the best and hiring the best takes time. We have a process focus in everything we do and welcome any ideas to improve the way we operate. Please reach out to me directly. My door is always open and I'm intent on making sure our team is well supported in all areas possible.

Pros

Unlimited PTO Strong sales training program Free lunch This isn't a typical make X amount of calls a day and go home role. You own your book of business and work directly with the entire account team, you're not just passing stuff over the fence -- you feel like a part of something bigger

Cons

Work-life balance can be difficult because even as an ADR you're still carrying a quota.

Pros

Product has the right market fit One of the best Sales teams in the valley Office is pretty nice

Cons

The Product team changed leadership in early 2016. Since then 10 members of the PM team (8 PMs, 1 UX and 1 Docs) have left, and 5 key engineering leaders have left. All mostly because of the CPO. He publicly humiliates people, berates them, and mocks people and teams in their absence. He refuses to listen and tries to play the 'alpha male' in which he seems to have the best opinions and answers. I have personally witnessed the culture shift in the PM organization, and am very sad to say it's going to take the company down if not addressed.

When a friend told me about this review, I have to say I was kind of shocked. I've been at MuleSoft in the Product org for 4+ years, and I've worked with our CPO since he joined this year. I've been in countless meetings with him and have never seen him humiliate or berate any publicly or privately. If he was as you described, I agree it would be a major problem. As you can imagine, I care deeply about our culture and I've lived through the changes you mention. Yes, there have been some departures as the organization has changed with Mark's new direction. Going from a small Product org to a larger one, at the rate of growth MuleSoft is experiencing, is hard. There's high customer demand. There's a finite rate at which you can hire. And there's a strong push for excellence in terms of quality, experience, and scale. Personally, I think our CPO has done an excellent job over the last year of really upping the bar and helping MuleSoft go to the next level. He really has been transformative for the company. I also keep in close touch with all the PMs, and overall everybody seems happy with how he's improved the overall Product org. Even when I talk with some of the people who have left, they like and respect him and were shocked at the tone of this post. I know that the leadership team would be more than happy to anonymously discuss your concerns. If that's something you're not comfortable with, please feel free to reach out to me too.
