Pros

Relaxed work environment. No one is on you as long as you get your stuff done. Which isn't much to ask.

Cons

Management don't are not competent. Job role is usually not clear and you basically figure it out as you go. Few smart people due to attrition. Below average compensation

Pros

Trying to think of one...

Cons

Appalling company who appear to be failing rapidly, with huge cuts in team size that I am being forced to make. The usual BS about company values of growth and respect, which are being ignored totally. People treated as a commodity, rapid downsizing of 10s of percents of team sizes, risking significant order intake losses running into 10s of millions of euro. Utter madness. Senior management stinks - focussed entirely on cost saving and not on revenue generation - even in the sales team!

Pros

Core Technology and focus on the SP (Telco) market and adjacent IP related markets. Nokia as a mobile operator is compelling, focused to deliver on the promise for their top 40 global customers. This BU, though extremely process orientated, has a recipe that works. Caution the entrepreneur .

Cons

Unfortunately, anything outside of mobile is riddled by x Alcatel and Nortel people in middle to top management roles. The Company tries to recruit new blood but after3 years most have left due to the poor cliquey technical sales management, who frankly do not have a clue. They know how to manage up but not run business and engage the field facing sales staff. Nokia appears to have a strategy to eliminate any job in western, Northern Europe and move it to India or Hungary. So you work with a virtual team in a different TZ than do not understand well the local language customs, customers. The company will survive as there is not much competition left and mistakenly the EU thinks Nokia is still European but that boat left with most staff now in India or USA. Nokia is not for the change agent, make a difference type of person.
