Pros

Good work life balance, work pressure is less. Some of the perks given are good, but these are fast vanishing with time.

Cons

No job security. You are forced to look for a new team to keep your job every 6 months. You will go nowhere in your career. Too slow to react to changes. Many people doing the same thing without knowledge of what is happening in the other parts of the organistation.

Pros

Massive multi national with all the right intentions. Nokia's move into software and services leveraged by its 40% global market share makes it the premiere company to lead the move to always connected devices... fact of the matter is that we will all be wearing a "Connected PC" on our hip in the very near future and the market growth in mobile services is set to explode. Nokia is keen on having clear guidance on and structure for it employee goals. HR has gone a long way toward structuring an admirable system to manage such a large global organization.

Cons

Nokia is too big to maneuver its way out of a wet paper bag. Because of the need to work in the (in)famous matrixed organization the common goals are not always so common. Perfect example is the schism that exists between the Services and the Devices business groups. The engineering mindset dominates the business culture in devices and is defined by a process oriented 100% quality requirement within a logistics/supply chain environment. Services as a counter point is required by market forces to be more nimble and move at "entreprenuerial speeds". Unfortunately these two cultures clash horribly and to enjoy a decent P/E ratio Nokia will need to become much more successful and rapidly accelerate it's Mobile SW and Services business unit. The fact though is that internally there is a great deal of doubt as to executive mgt's ability to make this happen in a satisfactory timeframe.
