Pros

Really intelligent and knowledgeable people, amazing focus on strategy, challenging work, and an open environment for wild and passionate ideas. Surprisingly for an organization that is so huge, it is very agile and always changing. You are never bored. There is also a very significant mac community that has their own forum and mailing list to chat about aspects of Apple support, tips and tricks.

Cons

You can feel like a tiny speck in an ocean at times. It can be frustrating when you realize some processes are in place for the sake of process and measurement and not for optimal or quick outcome.

Pros

Nokia has a good work culture. Working in teams is very well achieved and egos are not as big as in many US companies. You get to work in great devices. Nokia makes 400 million cell phones. Work life balance is very good. 401K = 8% of pay with 100% match.

Cons

Work can be quite process oriented. Decision making is slow. Europe has a holier than thou view of looking at US operations. Pay is honestly not very competitive. 401K match makes up for it. Options and restrictive shares are not offered as much as other companies. Bonus pay is average (15% expected) but quite steady.

Pros

Smart people to work with, great benefits. Fun/interesting technologies and products to work on.

Cons

Below average pay, no headcount growth thus no chance for advancement. The company focuses on retaining their Finish employees and they really don't care about their US employees. Constant threat of being offshored or jobs sent back to Finland. Schedules are unrealistic and you must work over time the whole year to make schedule. Five years ago, Nokia really focuses on work/life balance. Since 2006, in Irving, work/life balance went completely out the window. You get 4-5 weeks vacation (good) but can never take it due to constant schedule pressure (bad).
