Pros
The speech recognition program was a "quick learner"; personable management, but did not really listen to suggestions. Easy to work with their platform, easy to see the patient demographic information at all times and easy to edit and change information there that needed to be changed occasionally.
Cons
The only feedback that was sent in an email on a regular basis with regard to QA and QC was negative feedback, always had failing scores that were less than the one needed to meet parameters. All QA and QC was done on reports of less than 100 lines, this is the first and only company I have ever worked for that thought negative feedback would yield positive results. I suggested to my manager that both positive and negative should be given at the same time...it fell on deaf ears. I feel that they lie by omission when they show the pay scale chart to hospital transcription departments that are outsourced to them. When they show the chart what they fail to mention is that their goal is to get all physicians on staff possible into the speech recognition platform, even physicians who have templates that only a few words need to be added to, and that on speech recognition reports they only pay for half of the lines in the report. At the end of the day if you have edited 1500 lines you only get paid for 750 lines. If you are the only one working to pay your bills this is a mere pittance and I found it untenable, which is why I left. I had been a medical transcriptionist for more than 20 years and this company made me no longer want to continue a career that I loved.
