Pros

The problems are cool and challenging, the environment can be fun, and if you learn how to play the game you can strike a good work life balance.

Cons

There is no room for growth, but that may depend on the group. The management bloat is ridiculous and the politics and scrambling for power are major distractions.

Pros

The technology is the leader in the industry. Nuance has a history of success. The salaries and benefits are competitive and the managers have a lax attitude towards working from home.

Cons

There is a glut of managers who spend most of their time bolstering statistics to make their engineering groups appear effective. The managers are too busy jockeying for advancement to notice that the lower level employees are floundering and unhappy. There engineers are led by non-engineers so code quality and structure are not valued, nor are employees who promote these things.

Pros

Leader in the industry, successful as a business. Technology is interesting and benefits many different types of people from handicapped people to doctors.

Cons

Overabundance of managers, mostly unqualified workers who were promoted to management in spite of being untrained and unskilled as managers. Constant acquisitions and layoffs instills paranoia in the workforce. A never ending desire to please investors leads to rushed low-quality product releases followed by rushed patches.
