Pros

Good talented people who are ready to put in the effort. Opportunities to learn new technologies.

Cons

Senior exec management is NATO. They have an Employee survey maybe once a year and that’s it. Nothing comes out of it. Nor there is any improvement. Work life balance is only on paper. They’ve absolutely no idea what is happening at grass root levels. Pathetic HR practices, zero or negligible career growth.

Pros

Great offices, great benefits, lots of lovely people, generally left alone to get on with the job. Infinite amounts of training available, so much so, you could get away with spending 70% of your time on training.

Cons

This was my first (and last) experience of sales in a large IT company. My word the bureaucracy!!! Oracle operates despite itself, the other curious thing was the shear volume of decidedly average (but very nice) sales people who think they are God's gift to selling. This is the home of "show and tell" selling dressed up with lots of lovely "value realization" tools, AKA random number generators. If you are a true consultative, challenger sales or value based selling professional, Oracle is most certainly not the place for you. Per the title, it is horses for courses, Oracle is certainly not my course, but if you are younger and inexperienced, this is great place to learn the ropes hence the three stars. Ultimately however there is a mountain of dead wood running about the place all calling on the same small number of accounts and so if you are experienced you get a massive target and no way of making it. If you a good salesperson with a track record of success, DO NOT come to Oracle.

Pros

Presumably, Larry will continue to invest in cloud until he beats or loses to AWS. If he wins - great. If he loses, Oracle becomes the next IBM - great.

Cons

A bunch of SDEs and SDMs hired from Amazon and promoted beyond their attainable level at Amazon. Despite the OCI Value "Don't be a Jerk", they just brought the Amazon culture with them.
