      Great fun for those interested in developing database management systems

      Pros

      I worked in the server division. There is fairly decent work-life balance in server division. On average I worked around 40 hours a week. Excellent work gets recognition, both by peers and by management. Oracle's size means that you can work on implementing very different types of enterprise software within the same company.

      Cons

      The overhead of the development process can be annoying large for big teams.

      Pros

      Opportunity to learn and grow and the opportunity to stay on top of technology. The senior management has fairly string vision and a clear sense of direction. The managers are very supportive of providing employees opportunity of both personal and professional growth. The company has string fundamentals and with tons of acquisitions, the company is becoming very strong with every passing month.

      Cons

      Fairly big sized company, you can get lost in the crowd sometimes. Also, the middle management layer is fairly thick, so chances of promotion in certain groups can be limited.

      Pros

      Big name, lots of opportunity to transfer within the company. There is something to be said for having a name on your resume that is very well known in the valley. The VERY senior management is great, but I found that the middle levels of management seem to have stumbled their way into their roles and aren't letting go for dear life.

      Cons

      Incredibly political, at least in certain groups, and promotion definitely depends on massaging the right egos. Depending on your role, not particularly work-life friendly. Ultimately, it was the low pay compared to similar jobs at other companies that pushed me away.
