Pros

Salary is really good for one of the poorest regions in Spain Weather and Spanish way of life Good for the CV if you are a new starter in sales/business New project...so it can evolve in a good way. Maybe.

Cons

- Lots of cold calling. - No business development unit to give you leads. - Poorly organized project - Unreachable targets - Selling depends on luck about the accounts you have and the country you work for, nothing esle. - You compete against other Oracle's business units - Self Service company: don't expect any help for anything. You lose a lot of time doing everything by yourself - Cost effective position for the company: you do telemarketing, ISR and sometimes presales without any salary compensation. - Commissions don't get paid and you have to fight with heavy admin processes to get it - Only one Hardware product to sell....and the most difficult one. - You will have to do a lot of lobbying and political moves with other people within the company if you want to be able to work normally. - Lots of traffic jams in order to get to the office depending on where you live. Sometimes 1 hour drive time to do 10km. Unacceptable for a small city like Malaga.

Pros

I worked for a fantastic company before Oracle took over. Oracle has turned me off working for a large corporation. For a billion dollar company, you will never reap in their profits. It's only feeding the very high end management in their million dollars to billion dollars lifestyle! I stayed for so many years because all my great benefits & fantastic team originally came from the previous company. The "Pros" are for the previous company on Health Insurance, Superannuation, tea/coffee, biscuits/fruit (which we gave Oracle the idea). Oracle implemented the flexibility of working from home (the best thing they ever did). The reason for this was because they ran out of desk space in the office for all employees. Now Higher Management from the USA has requested all of Global Support (note not everyone in the company just Support) to return & squeeze back into the offices, taking away our flexibility and making our jobs harder.

Cons

- Too many levels of management where your direct managers don't even have the authority or power to do anything. - Terrible culture all the way down from the top. - Unrealistic quotas set by high level management. It’s a numbers game for them. Not enough care & respect for the plebs. - Reporting to off shore management who don't even know you or what you look like. - Too many processes and "red tape" to get a simple answer. - No pay rises. No bonuses. No promotions. No career paths. No Budget. No headcounts. - For an IT Company, it's very conservative. - For a global organization, it has American centrism with no understanding of how the world works or what is going on with other countries. - Also its very sales orientated & favors the sales teams in the company. - Oracle has grown too big for them to handle. - There is no work life balance in the company and has bad culture/values. - HR are the “smiling assassins”. They are only told what to do by management and will not listen or empathize with the employees. - No trust with high management or HR. - Huge Support layoffs around the world which will affect customer service in the future. - Knowledge of products have disappeared with employees leaving the company. - Unfortunately I would never recommend Oracle as it will suck the life out of you but if the above attracts you, I wish you luck with wanting to work for them. You will need it with plenty of patience.

Pros

This review is based on my experience with Oracle Consulting. Other departments may vary: - Wonderful, comprehensive benefits package. - Opportunity to work remote if the client allows it. - Diverse product offering means you'll never get bored doing the same thing. - Being the top database and database application company means Oracle isn't going under anytime soon. - Free Oracle University training (as long as your cost center pays for it). - Decent work / life balance if you get onto a project with competent project management. - Very progressive company with regards to corporate culture and values.

Cons

Again, cons are based on my experience at Oracle Consulting. Sales, marketing, product development, etc experiences will vary: - Your resource manager will only see / talk to you once a year, and they are the ones responsible for your performance review. Not good. - Pay is extremely low when compared to other Oracle development / consulting jobs in the industry. - Layoffs almost every quarter. If you find yourself in between projects, expect a severance package in the mail. - Performance reviews are actually not based on performance, but dictated by upper management. This creates an environment of favoritism. - Senior management in consulting had been in disarray while I was there, resulting in low morale. - Oracle Consulting is a revolving door and Oracle is turning into a training house for other companies. - Promotions / raises take forever. Every year they have a new excuse as to why they can't promote you.
