Pros

Corporate benefits are great - if your managers actually grant them It is still not bad to have Oracle in your CV - but that will most likely change soon.

Cons

Talking about the Amsterdam HUB here - it actually all depends on where you work and under which VP - but we recieved similar horror stories from other HUBs Corporate flustercluck. It is harder to justify why you want to sell a product to a prospect than to actually sell to the customer. I have never seen a company so eager to mismanage it´s sales departments. Although the position is marketed as a high volume based sales role with loads of customers and a strong brand and marketing engine behind it, the reality kicks in at about 2 months in. You are a telemarketer - not even supposed to sell, just generate some activities (cold calls) and schedule appointments for partners or colleagues to actually sell the solution. There are unspecified KPI´s and the micromanagement is strong with this role. Basically you are a overpaid call agent or an underpaid, bored to the bones sales who is struggling to get the chance for a deal due to infights between the managers and departments. Oh - and you do not have a fixed territory - it changes every fiscal. Ps. Do not count on data quality. Base-line: You have to be damn good at politics, lying and sucking up to your managers to have a reasonably good time here. And even the best at these skills are not what one would call "successful"

Pros

Work from home and if you want to be expert in politics and boot licking. Nothing precisely

Cons

Favouritism. Each manager has his/her own favourite cronies. Hostile and toxic environment with some managers are even ruthless physic. Most people who worked as contractors with Palerra here from service industry are made permanent and has spoiled the place. Recruitment is a joke here. Huge number of selective loyal people mostly contractors are being brought via got up and fake process so they remain quiet and loyal. No appraisal process, cronies selectively gets hike/stocks from time to time for being loyal, for others fake promises are being made and made to work till they leave. High attrition, if people are not boot lickers they are bullied to leave. All tall claims by the sr. director here in India failed flat and the product is hardly used by any customers , teams only do maintenance jobs and this is beautifully camouflaged by the sr director here as “important critical work to the business”. Consequently, there is a constant celebration of mediocrity in telling we are startups within Enterprise etc.. Passable / run-of-the-mill engineering outcomes are celebrated wildly.

Pros

-Telecommuting -Supportive Managers -Competitive Pay -Unlimited Vacation and more holidays than a lot of companies -Huge company with tons of opportunities--if you don't like what you're doing, there's probably something else you could be doing for the company -Administrative side of the company is far less political/territorial than other places I've worked All in all, coming to Oracle has been the best career move I've made. I plan to be here for a very long time, and it's not uncommon to have coworkers who have been with the company 20+ years. In the current job climate, that says a lot.

Cons

-Very self-service focused; if you don't possess a lot of self-discipline, this may not be the best place for you -Project cycles can be very long; if you're someone who likes to check something off the list and move on, there's not always a lot of short-term fulfillment -It's getting better, but internal technology and tools are not as good as the products we sell to customers.
