Pros

It's nice to work with other people who are early in career.

Cons

In the BDR program, they treat you horribly and have the attitude that if you don't like it you can leave. They include clauses in your commission plan that allow them to decide whether or not they feel like paying you full commission, even though BDR's are already the lowest paid employees. The training is not relevant to the day-to-day function of the role and doesn't prepare you for the job or roles that follow. The employee retention rate is dropping rapidly because all sales reps at NetSuite are severely underpaid compared to competitors offering double pay for the same work. Because there's so much employee turnover, it's not uncommon to get assigned a new manager every 2 quarters which makes it challenging to continue training and to do well. Management does not respect employees and will openly treat people poorly if they are not in the top 10%. If management wants something done, they incentivize with threats instead of benefits or encouragement. If you have the option, avoid this role at all costs. There are better opportunities elsewhere that will get you farther in your career.

Pros

- Good onboarding training program. - Good place to start your career so you can go somewhere you will be valued. - Great place to network and meet smart, talented people.

Cons

- Compensation for Solution Engineers is seriously lacking compared to the industry standard. By a significant amount. - Raises are few and far between. I was lucky to randomly get promoted and a pay raise (still not at the amount other companies pay SEs of similar experience). It is well known that the best way to get a significant pay increase at Oracle is to leave and be rehired. - The culture is extremely toxic and overly competitive. Women at Oracle are frequently ignored and talked over - very much a "boy's club." The company also has very little diversity. Employment is a revolving door for a reason here. - The vacation policies are lackluster in 2022, where other companies are recognizing the importance of work-life balance. 4 days of PTO are mandatory for every employee each year for winter break. This leaves a measly 8-9 of accrued time to use at your discretion. - Employees are forced to jump through hoops to log overtime hours and this is actively discouraged, even if you are working more than you should be. - Management does not care about you, your compensation, happiness, success or career goals. All they care about is looking good in the eyes of their manager. - Outdated business processes and mediocre product offerings.

Pros

Really great 1st job to have on a resumé out of school. Allowed early advancement opportunities to field rep within 5 years. My original manager and organization was great.

Cons

Change. The company is constantly changing organizational strategy and leadership as they reorient to the cloud. Had 4 VPs in 5 years. Mark Hura (Cloud Tech SVP) seems to have a handle on issues and shortcomings. Lack of goodwill. Years of mistreating customers from shady reps and lack of true support can be difficult to overcome. Operates as 9 separate companies. Your success and experience solely relies on management and what product you sell. ERP and apps (NetSuite) are market leaders while OCI is last in the market with a lot to overcome.
