Pros

- exciting cutting edge technoogy - products across almost every enterprise area, so lots to do - senior management knows how to make money - decent cafetarias and an excellent campus(looks like proper HQ, not the generic look of say, intel campus)

Cons

- job satisfaction is not management's goal...if you don't like it, get out - too many projects started without adequate research, resulting in lots of wasted effort - extremely political environment - must fight for pay, promotion, recognition

Pros

Good work life balance. If you are good at what you do it is fairly easy to stand out. Resonably good variable compensation package (options and bonus). It is a company set up to succeed in the enterprise space (given its size).

Cons

Career growth options are limited especially if you are in a group with by an underperforming leader. Work can get boring quickly and you don't really have an option to use tools that are best of breed (you must use oracle tools whether or not they are the best).

Pros

It's a port in the storm. While chaos reigns in Silicon Valley, Oracle has seen steady growth, and is a very stable company. Also, barring layoffs, it's very hard to get fired.

Cons

It's a very top-down command-and-control structure. Lower level employees don't get any authority. Pretty much everything has to be cleared at the top. This causes unnecessary delays, and results in lost opportunities in pretty much everything.
