Pros

As an organization, OwnBackup is experiencing strong growth and success. During the earlier part of my tenure, the company was in a phase of intense expansion, which was incredibly exciting. It was evident that we were achieving great things, and the team's enthusiasm matched our progress. One thing that impressed me about OwnBackup was the many opportunities it provided for people to advance their careers rapidly. We were encouraged to take on new challenges and expand our product offerings. Towards the end of 2022, the company made some strategic changes, which had a significant impact on the team emotionally. While it's impossible to overlook those challenges, I'm glad to report that our new strategy continues to offer people the same ownership opportunities. Additionally, OwnBackup is now investing more in our personal development, which we didn't have during the rapid growth phase. During my time at OwnBackup, I've had the chance to learn a lot, work closely with senior leaders, and drive business growth that I wouldn't have experienced elsewhere. I'm aware of the challenges of working for a growing tech company, but the chance to build something amazing with such great colleagues is why I look forward to coming to work every day. Plus, having access to free lunch, gym, and a golf simulator doesn't hurt either.

Cons

Managing the pace of change can be challenging, especially when the path to achieving goals and objectives shifts. While the overall goals may remain the same, adapting to a new path can create ambiguity and confusion. However, it's not uncommon for any position to come with some level of frustration at times. I also don't love the commute.

Thank you for sharing the details of your experience at OwnBackup. As a rapidly growing company, we experience a unique set of challenges that can arise from the pace at which we move. Our team is resilient, innovative and dynamic; we’re able to remain agile in the face of shifting circumstances. We’re focused on investing in our people. One of the ways we’re doing this is through in-house professional development opportunities that empower our teams to stretch and grow. We’ve rolled out several learning opportunities that are easily accessible to employees, and are focused on building skill sets and developing competencies. We appreciate your comment on digging deeper into what employees want. We’re doing exactly that- we just launched our annual employee engagement survey which is a tool that allows employees to share their thoughts and feedback with leadership efficiently and anonymously. With the feedback we receive, we will create action plans and program enhancements to reflect employee sentiment.

Pros

- Awesome company culture (inclusive vibe, worldwide teams due to company locations in USA, Tel Aviv, London and Australia (coming soon), fun clubs/activities in the office (Xbox/Wii, Puzzles, Legos, Whiskey Club, Trivia, etc), complimentary lagers on tap, positive attitude/great communication among the staff) - Gorgeous office space (iMacs for staff, diner kitchen setup, cool wall art, spa room with massage chairs, gym is currently being built) - Weekly covid tests in spa room (& once it's safe there will be complimentary hair-styling and mani/pedi in this room) - Town hall events (the company cares and wants to listen to your opinions) - Products/services are essential (which is why OB is growing so quickly, plus sales is fun because you're genuinely helping prospects) - Breakfast and lunch is included if you go into the office - Bus service runs Tues-Thurs in Manhattan to facilitate commute (butOB will cover your ride-share costs on Mon/Fri) - Many free parking spaces are available if you would like to drive to the office - Many opportunities to keep growing your knowledge thanks to the hardworking sales enablement department - Many company events (currently online), which sometimes feature celebrity guest speakers - Weekly prize wheel for top sellers, & OB has a lot of swag/gifts to share with the staff

Cons

*These aren't exactly cons for me, but may be a dealbreaker for some. - Onsite expectations: if you're trying to work remotely post-pandemic, this job may not be for you. Right now you can wfh, but everyone is expected to return to the office when it is safe to do so - Gotta pay about a $15+ daily toll on the GW bridge/Cross Bronx if you're driving from NY / CT
