Pros

Jason Siegel is my recruiter for the role and he did a tremendously good job advocating for the company in our initial meeting and every interview along the way to the job offer proved that what he was saying was all true. Everyone I spoke with seemed to be in love with the company and it’s culture. I am eager to start working here as the energy i’ve felt is truly special in comparison to the many companies i’ve applied to and interviewed with. Own Backup is definitely doing something right.

Pros

Ambushed with emails from our People Officer and forced to do surveys for "workplace experience".

Cons

Purchasing a "Great Place to Work" certification does not fool anyone. All the other fake "best workplace" claims are bogus. We get multiple emails from management to fill it out. We are afraid, to tell the truth since everything is tracked. OwnBackup is great at spending money on shiny things and not investing in people.

Let me reiterate this point: our goal is to elevate the employee experience. Allow me to provide recent examples to illustrate this commitment: Our recent survey results illuminated a strong interest among employees in exploring a condensed workweek. In direct response, we introduced a global summer hours program, enabling employees to disconnect early on the last day of the workweek, promoting a healthier work-life balance. Furthermore, our surveys indicated a desire among employees to engage more in community volunteer work. This led to the initiation of volunteer opportunities during our Mid Year Kick-Off event, marking the launch of our corporate volunteering initiative. Responding to requests for improved benefits and increased connection opportunities, we implemented enhancements driven by their transparent feedback. Our motivation for conducting these surveys is rooted in our determination to effect meaningful improvements. We employ tools such as the Great Place to Work (GPTW) survey due to its third-party nature, which ensures anonymous employee responses and a holistic understanding of workplace sentiment. It's important to clarify that neither we nor any company utilizing GPTW can influence awards or recognition through financial means. The entire process operates independently from OwnBackup, with confidentiality being paramount. Each award application is governed by stringent regulations dictating survey communication, privacy, and confidentiality. A core value we uphold is 'Culture is as important as results.' At OwnBackup, a culture cannot be simply purchased, aligning with our stance against a 'Let's just buy it' approach. The process of surveying our global workforce, comprehending their feedback, and formulating actionable plans is neither simple nor quick.
