Pros

Overall note on reviews: PTC is very siloed, which explains the wide range of reviews. Pay attention to the job title and office of the poster. I knew some people who really enjoyed their jobs in software development and marketing at PTC. For everyone, PTO policy is generous and work/life balance is easy to maintain.

Cons

PTC Professional Services has a flawed system where consultants who are bad at consulting are moved to important project management or business development roles. These people will then get promoted to leadership positions due to their increased visibility from management. The results in a large number of incompetent leaders and managers in the most important strategic positions in professional services. Implementations frequently exceed original budget and escalations are common. Professional services is very poorly run. For the consultant employees, there is no internal structure for goal setting and career progression. Raises/promotions are based more on personal relationships than performance. The culture is toxic. I was afraid to admit any knowledge gaps because it would be used against me while arguing for my first raise in 3 years. Consultants are frequently expected to perform a project role beyond their skillset with minimal guidance. Annual reviews are based on a 5 minute conversation with the project managers, who (see above) are usually awful at their jobs and have little insight into consultants' performance. HR did very little to help.
