      Eroding Culture

      Pros

      The benefits package was good. The majority of the people I worked with over the course of my 5+ years at the company were highly competent.

      Cons

      The executives are just chasing the latest hype while letting products that make up the foundation of the company wither on the vine. No time to breathe when you're scrambling to complete work that requires more people than management cares to provide. Salaries are nowhere near competitive and you're lucky to get a 3% raise every few years, if management isn't using the poor manufacturing economy as an excuse to tighten the purse strings. It's an acquire and fire strategy to make the numbers. The only reliable constant is the excessive executive compensation while they lay little guys off.

      Pros

      * Decent severance package when you (inevitably) get laid off. * Flexible work schedule / location

      Cons

      * Non-competitive wages. * Twice-yearly layoffs. Multi-year hiring freeze. * Toxic morale. People are openly talking about finding new jobs in the hallways. * Stale technology * Too many layers of management that do not add value.

      Great people stifled by inept management

      Pros

      My coworkers were a great bunch, and probably the only reason I stayed as long as I did. The benefits were standard for this type of job, but probably better than the average US worker

      Inept mid level management A vice president of XYZ dept for every day of the week. Having no less than 5 different managers in 8 years due to high turnover Constant company wide freezes on raises No clear cut milestones for advancement Meetings about meetings Constant changes of direction and operating procedures with no benefit. Truly the blind leading the blind
