Pros

Quick and fast paced environment. Great People (although they are leaving in droves). Some technologies actually work.

Cons

No coherent product-strategy. Acquisitions reminds of a spoilt child at a do-it-yourself store, buying a few things and scrapping what could not be made sense of. Zero focus on customer or employees. Some employees had reduction in base salary and an increase in variable pay to show net increase. Dog-eat-dog culture. NO work-life balance.

Pros

Worked here over 15 years, they where founded on innovative market leading ideas (parametric modelling). They have lost their way a bit chasing the latest new thing, but in truth all the ideas do fit together. Its just the execution that is lacking. IoT could be great... better than great... if they get it right. Depending on the group you work in you might work with really smart people on innovative ideas

Cons

As everyone says - nepotism and favoritism is rampant. Promotions (with 6-7 figure bonuses) handed out like candy at SVP/DVP/EVP level to the inner circle. If you have the right last name you are golden. Everyone else gets left to rot. Massive layoff this year letting go many of the people who built the company from the ground up go. After a 6 month delay we got small raises, but they conveniently cut stock compensation the same amount so its a wash. Execs pay lip service to increases but really gave zero. You can have a 10+ year record of star reviews and deliver on every goal, doing innovative technical things that provide real benefit to the bottom line, but then get passed over for promotion. Meanwhile the supporting roles that dont direct impact product delivery and revenue get promotion after promotion. The result is that those of us left are massively overworked and see no incentive to want to do great things.

Pros

Lots of PTO, interesting work (mostly), good co-workers

Cons

The title of my review aren't my words, they're the words of one of the company's biggest customers. Major shift happening right now, but this is nothing new if you've been around a few years. Two years ago it was SLM that was going to fundamentally transform the company. Four years ago it was Flex. Both of those were spaces that PTC was perfectly positioned to become a leader in per management. IoT is a good bet, but there will be no follow through, just like with everything else. Two years from now there will be something new that management runs after in attempt to create a splash with Wall Street. This frustrates employees and customers. Wall Street. There's a good one. Management doesn't try to make good products, grow the business or do anything through old fashioned hard work. They chase the stock price and go for splash moves like strategic changes, acquisitions and layoffs. PTC management is like a junkie chasing the Wall Street high and will do anything it takes to get it, regardless of long term consequences. Promotions are based on checking boxes, and even that isn't a guarantee. You'll get it a year or more after you should. No cost of living raises either. Benefits get reduced every year. PTC medical options are garbage. You're a number on a ledger as far as management is concerned.
