Pros

I learned a lot during the few years that I was there. The culture is flexible with a good work/life balance. They hire smart folks but can't maintain them.

Cons

All they talk about during the town meetings were satisfying stock holders and meeting numbers. They didn't discuss rewarding, maintaining and training employees. There were no raises during the recession which is understandable for 1 year but 2 years in a row. On top of that, management promoted their favorite direct reports to keep them. While no increase in salary, management continued to pile on more work as if you are lucky to have a job.

Pros

The vacation policy is really great. Salary is OK when you're hired. The people you work with are hit or miss. Not as high quality as I expected going in.

Cons

Most years there are no pay raises. When there are raises, they don't make up for all that you've lost. There are layoffs in R&D every year. The direction of the company seems to change every year. Wouldn't recommend it as a great place to work.

Pros

PTC is growing. At one time the company made it's name on its flagship CAD products. Once the competition showed up though, PTC had no plan and fell on its face, but it learned a valuable lesson and began diversifying. They have been ever since. They are good at acquiring companies with upside, and their most recent acquisitions are putting them in a good spot to take a serious place in IoT.

Cons

Don't expect PTC's acquisitions to mean new opportunities though. PTC's slogan should be "the land of silos." It's where careers go to asphyxiate. Training is non-existent, and making it clear that training is part of the critical path for a project is only met with hostility and negative impacts for the "troublemaker." (speaking from experience) So, all of these new acquisitions have become PTC's go-to growth strategy at the expense of learning how to leverage internal talent. If you do go to work there, plan your exit strategy no later than 2 years, or you'll find yourself becoming obsolete to the outside world.
