Chaos and Tinkering

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Good benefits; aside from management, people are great; easy.

Cons

Management is very inexperienced in their rolls. For instance, a chemist is managing a team of chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, controls engineers, and more, without understanding their rolls in the company. Because of this, there is no direction from management, and projects are complete chaos because decisions are being made by people who don’t understand the systems that they are making decisions on. There is also little to no room for career development, and most engineers spend the majority of their time working on tasks that are actually the responsibility of Production and Maintenance.

Pros

Health benefits, floating holiday, get paid.

Cons

Everything else aside from above. The upward movement is restricted to who you know not what you know. Machine operators are overworked. Techs haven't had raises in over a year. Operators and material handlers continue to get raises. Production management doesn't care about employees. Preach HPC culture, don't practice it. Don't care about employee health, for covid 19, they don't even do the cleaning you would think. They clean a couple buttons and move on. Don't do the contract tracing they say they do. Desk job employees who never step foot on the actual floor have a better chance of promotion than anyone on the actual production for. Training minimal, if at all. Constant rat race. Unreal expectations. Do your job, and three other jobs and then get into trouble for trying to pick up the slack. No support. Parts needed to fix machines aren't even available.
