Everchanging industry with lots of opportunity for critical thinking and developing creative methodologies when management allows and is not constrained. Working wages are good for women

Cons

As Mark Twain once said, "Loyalty to petrified opinion never broke a chain or freed a human soul." Frequently, as in most companies in this industry, marketing and arbitrary schedules "tie the hands" of the creative end of development and in most cases are counter productive.

Pros

At Philips, I have complete freedom to make important business decisions. This great amount of responsibility makes me feel as though I own my own business. It is a very flat organization, so I have a lot of interaction with top level management.

Cons

Not everyone at Philips shares my sense of urgency, and it can be frustrating to try to get things done in the Philips environment. We are very under-resourced, and I have to work far too many hours in order to keep my business going. Philips is a European company, and as a result, it is difficult to convince upper management to devote a reasonable amount of the global resource pool to projects for the US market. European-focused projects clearly take precedence.
