Pros

My team has a great group of talented, personable, friendly individuals who are excellent to work with. The 401k matching, ability to work from home, and PTO are pretty good. New benefits include 12 weeks paid leave for new parents. Company is very environmentally focused.

Cons

Projects seem to be spontaneously added if there's a potential customer. It feels like fishing. There's a tug on the line and management scrambles to reel in the potential customer, and engineering is left scrambling to meet unrealistic deadlines with cost controls, limited resources, and processes that are not geared towards software development. Layoffs are common and don't seem to have regard for seniority or value to the business. Andover HQ moving to Cambridge is the worst decision for employees. This may be a great way to improve Philips's brand recognition and get closer to research opportunities. It also looks like a way to reduce costs by "laying off" expensive Andover employees and attract some cheaper college and post-grad talent. It is unfortunate that the Cambridge office is not easily accessible to employees who have build lives and families in the suburbs away from one of the US's most difficult cities to commute into. The company appears to be working on options, but hasn't provided any concrete answers since the announcement making employees nervous that there aren't any solutions beyond: "you can work from home" "there will be bicycle programs in Cambridge!" "the Cambridge office will be great!" I have to seriously consider the impact the Cambridge move will have on my commute and sanity (from working from home and not engaging with anyone in person).

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience so thoroughly while being part of our company. We can see there's a lot that you like, but that you have some concerns as well. I can assure you that our managing teams read the reviews on here as well, so they can take your feedback into account. However, whatever you feel fit to share in person with the managing team, we would like to encourage you to talk about that. As we always hope to provide an open working environment in which these things can be talked about. I wish you the best going forward.

Pros

Only pros which i could see in last few moth are listed below : 1. Work from home / work for home 2. Flexible timings 3. Unlimited sick leaves etc

Cons

I can write a long essay on it.First of all they are very bad at resource planning. they will hire to for some technical skills say C++ but they will ask you to work on java, C#.People with windows back ground will be asked to work on linux. Software developer will be asked to work on test automation , code coverage etc. No proper planning. No proper work allocation

Hi there, thank you for saying a few words about your current employer. It's a pity to hear that your job at Philips isn't meeting your expectations thus far. If you haven't discussed your points of improvement with your manager yet, then I hope I can encourage you to. Our management is active on this platform as well, so your feedback will be noted. Wishing you all the best!
