Pros

- Staff are friendly and helpful, management are also nice and look after staff the best they can, same with supervisors. Pretty much everyone will look after you and help you on your first few weeks. Really nice people, which makes a lovely change from some retail jobs. - Lots of variation in jobs, so great for a first time retail experience, as you'll learn loads. - Fairly straight forward; routines of the shop are easy to learn, tills are quite simple, etc - Loads of overtime, if you want it - You get given plenty of uniform tops for free, I got one for every day with a choice of sleeves. - Pay is alright. Not minimum wage but could be higher, but then thats the case for almost any retail job. - Uniform rules aren't too bad for retail: you can wear jeans and sneakers, you can have piercings in your nose and ears, you can wear jewellery and belts, most makeup and hair styles are acceptable, etc. - Interview isn't too scary, and there are sensible questions to do with the job, unlike some others.

Cons

- No staff discount. Not that Primark stuff is super expensive, but it'd be nice to get a discount just to show staff are appreciated. Just seems like a nice thing to do. - CUSTOMERS. Some are alright but don't expect to be treated with respect or basic manners. - Seems understaffed? Which leads to being constantly moved around departments, or given loads to do and having a lot of pressure put on to finish a job that you've never done before on a department that you don't work on. Supervisors aren't mean but its still pressure that wouldn't be needed if there was more than one or two people in a department. Also, this causes clashes with holiday, issues when someone's sick or away, and the supervisors being a little stretched. Also, last till shifts never leave less than 10 minutes late, every night. - Have heard from other staff members that promotions are almost impossible to get. - Being allowed to change your hours in any way is a rare miracle, even if you have health issues or a disability. - You have special receipts that print out every 10 or so customers about an online survey they can do, which you have to explain to them and write your name on and stuff. Gets really tedious, most customers don't listen, and so makes you feel a bit stupid. Some even get annoyed with you even though you basically have to do it or you risk getting told off.

Pros

Colleagues were very friendly. Pay was above the minimum wage. Supervisors were supportive of the staff. Looking back was an overall okay experience.

Cons

Management were beyond unreasonable, once kept behind to make sure all the piles of clothes were pulled literally millimetres forward. They also made getting a day off extremely difficult for anything. Supervisor who conducted my interview did not pass on any of the dates I couldn't work to management. Management blamed myself and generally felt like they held it against me. Management had no concept of having lives outside of the work place, people were given shifts on days they had exams etc and management would try to force them to work around. No benefits bar the 10% off that we had to use between 8-9am and 5-6pm in the two weeks before Christmas.

Pros

Great atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff, enjoyable to see all the different fashion styles and stock the company brings in, customers are almost always friendly and enjoy the shop

Cons

Low pay rate, management can sometimes have slow communication, no discount apart from at Christmas, the shop is often left in a state by customers at the end of the day which makes for a huge and frantic recovery in a small amount of time
