Pros

Excellent money for that type of job. No responsibility so not too much stress. Flexible days and can mostly choose what days you want to work so it's good for people studying. Really great people and very social job, always a night out on or some activity. Dealing with the public can be nice (or awful depending on the situation but overall good)

Cons

Management are completely incompetent; they treat you like a child and micro manage every aspect of you day. There is awful problems with favouritism and often if borders on bullying (I have seen it first hand) HR are not very approachable. It's impossible to get out of a shift of something comes up and you are not allowed to swap a shift ( unless HR mess up your hours then you HAVE TO get a swap). Some very interesting/funny/strange incidents in my time there.

Pros

There's always overtime apart from during January and February which is great for students or parents of young children.

Cons

A lot of favouritism amongst staff. Many senior staff are incompetent, don't know what they're doing, abuse their power, take things personally and react during work, as well as treat staff with hardly any respect. If brought to another senior staffs attention it isn't taken seriously and almost dismissed, there's not really anyone to talk to about work problems that affect you. You're made to feel invaluable and.stupid. supervisors think they're managers and have serious attitude problems. It's unprofessional. The only way you can get through working at primark is by shutting up, being invisible, and putting up with things you shouldn't have to. Career progression is almost impossible and a lot of the time it's not the stores own staff that get promoted, it's outside candidates. HR deal with it so you might as well be a stranger because they know nothing personally about you and all they care about is your at tendency rather than your capability to do the job - hence poor selection of senior management from promotions
