Pros
Being my first retail job, it has been the best experience of my life to learn about the retail industry and gain valuable experience for further prospects. My colleagues are the best thing going at Primark, we all feel like a family - even with the supervisors. Maybe it's just our store/floor but there is not one bad supervisor or manager. Pay is decent considering - however, out of London it might be too low in my opinion. But our store is Greater London so it's quite good. And also we get annual review of the hourly rate, which usually always goes up every year. Hours are great if you're looking for strictly part-time. 4 hours a day shifts if you wanted no overtime. Lots of overtime available, so even if you're part-time (20 hours contract) you have to chance to work 30 hours to even 39 hours sometimes. Breaks are really generous but sadly unpaid.
Cons
- Stockroom management and space is poor. - Over buying stock causes stress when you have to put stock out and try and display as much as possible. - Pressure to take on extra hours when you're not available - Disheartening treatment if you call in sick or be absent for a whole day or more. - Difficult to get a problem resolved, if the issue requires management to resolve it - as they are always too busy to remember the issue.
