Pros

For being in college/university, this is a really good job to have on the weekends. The other retail assistants are always really friendly and great to work with. You learn some basic retail skills such as working on the tills, working on the shop floor, dealing with customer enquiries and working in the fitting rooms. The tasks are very easy and straightforward to follow The working hours are generous (I left in 2021 so I'm not sure if they have changed) I used to do 8 hours all together on the weekend (4 hour shifts) and was within an easy commute to get there and back Pay is pretty decent

Cons

I'm basing this off my own experience but I would say the management wasn't entirely brilliant. Some managers had their favourites so if you weren't one of them you would be treated differently. I had one manager (they have left now) who would randomly micromanage me for a whole weekend (for no reason might I add) and then leave me alone, I felt uncomfortable and felt picked on for no actual cause. I also want to add that whenever managers were put under any pressure or stress, they would usually take it out on supervisors and even retail assistants which I found very unprofessional I think the 4 hour shifts are great if you live close by but it's certainly not great for those who have to commute further away The 10% staff discount is a joke, its not a great reflection on the hard work that's actually done They environment is not healthy, they need to fix their ventilation system in the store as certainly in the till area it gets way too hot, there has been one or two occasions where staff have passed out from the heat
