Pros

Global career opportunities and marketing skill development. Competitive salary and benefits program. Principled and value focused company. Great people to work with. Alot of ownership for results and reward for results as part of the permance evaluation process. Promote from within culture encourages and enhances the training that P&G provides.

Cons

Up or out mentality based on performance puts alot of pressue on marketers to perform.

Pros

Very stable company where your job is secure if you perform well.

Cons

You really need to network with those higher above you and below you. I've seen people have to leave the company because their immediate boss didn't like them, even though they were doing a great job. The only way to prevent that from happening is to make sure that your bosses boss knows the work your doing and doing well. So that your job promotions aren't dependent on the opinions of one individual but collectively.

Pros

Training and development provided to grow you from entry level. P&G only hires at entry level and is very particular about hiring potential rather than expecting you to be able to do the job from day one. P&G invests a great amount of time and money in training its people both via coaching from direct managers as we lll as having a wealth of formal training. A second great reason to join P&G is if you like to travel the promote from within policy means that there are numerous job opportunities available internationally in the 140 odd countries that the company operates in.

Cons

You have to go through the system and work your way up meaning start young. If you are planning to work for P&G make sure that you are under 30. To grow a person from an assistant manager level to a general manger or Vice President could take up to 20 years a significant investment of time and effort. The culture at P&G is also very insular; P&G is a great company though there are many great things that the company does there tends to be a lot of internal backslapping and not a lot of credence is given to views from outside or credit for example if you decided to pursue further training whilst employed at the company.
