Pros

Great Company Reputation, Great principles. Great Products. Great results and goal driven company. Plenty of learning opportunities. Great mantras and great vision towards the future.

Cons

Stuffy bureaucracy and hierarchy. Below average compensation if not living in Cincinnati. The "old guard" management hinders creativity and simplicity. Top leadership in the company state the importance of Diversity (People and Ideas) but middle management does not reflect it. The transition from a conservative Ohio/Midwest culture to a global one doesn't seem likely. The establishment of "new" mega-hubs in Singapore and Bangalore in addition to the expansion of Beijing will help the flow of new ideas, but is likely diminish opportunities for Americans wanting to grow within the US. Employee Benefits are decreasing. Insurance deductibles are rising and tuition reimbursement likely to diminish as well (likely due to the tough times, but once they're gone they won't come back) The company leans towards favoring an aristocracy over a meritocracy. Promotion from entry level up is 5yr in or out; but past the first promotion it is likely impossible in under 10years based on work performance but is based on how well connected you are. If you are chosen to be part of the "boys club", you can expect to move up the ranks very quickly. --> The culture does not foster technical talent, but instead fosters conservative management, lots of wasteful meetings and little risk taking.

Pros

opportunity to work on diverse projects that give a lot of experience in a very short time. investment in training and skill building.

Cons

rewards, recognition & promotion are a function of perception rather than hard performance. politics and positioning trumps collaboration and progress.
