Making products overseas and selling them in the U.S makes no sense if nobody has the money to purchase the products.

Proctor and Gamble is a very smart company. They didn't become the largest consumer products company by accident.

Cons

Alot of the human company relationships are gone. Its all about the numbers. With more concern with shareholders.

Pros

Pay is good, especially for cost off living in Cincinnati. Work/life balance is great - much better than other companies.You can learn a lot. P&G puts a premium on training and allows you to explore different areas of the company.

Cons

Extremely structured - almost like the military. you need to be a VP/GM to make decisions. How does one learn to make decisions if you wait till you are that senior? Because employees are not empowered, there is a lot of swirl and wasted time. Benefits are just ok.

P&G hires very smart people. You will learn much from your peers.

Cons

The culture is somewhat 'inbred'. They hire mainly from universities. So nearly everyone starts very junior and works their way up. This is the 'promote from within' philosophy they have. However, being a senior experienced hire, I found this insulting. They don't value outside talent. Not invented here syndrome.. This is a very competitive environment instead of a team based effort. Everyone for themselves. This is reinforced by the staff rotation that occurs within the categories far too often; this hinders organizational memory development.
