Pros

Training and development provided to grow you from entry level. P&G only hires at entry level and is very particular about hiring potential rather than expecting you to be able to do the job from day one. P&G invests a great amount of time and money in training its people both via coaching from direct managers as we lll as having a wealth of formal training. A second great reason to join P&G is if you like to travel the promote from within policy means that there are numerous job opportunities available internationally in the 140 odd countries that the company operates in.

Cons

You have to go through the system and work your way up meaning start young. If you are planning to work for P&G make sure that you are under 30. To grow a person from an assistant manager level to a general manger or Vice President could take up to 20 years a significant investment of time and effort. The culture at P&G is also very insular; P&G is a great company though there are many great things that the company does there tends to be a lot of internal backslapping and not a lot of credence is given to views from outside or credit for example if you decided to pursue further training whilst employed at the company.

Pros

P&G is truly committed to its purpose of improving lives of the world's consumers. This gives meaning to the work and a clear value by which to judge one's work. While P&G definitely has the best products in its categories, there is still ample opportunity to better understand how these products fit into consumer's lives and can make it better beyond the purely functional. Being as globally diversified and diversified across consumer goods categories as P&G is, it is a very solid and steady company that will always have opportunities to grow. Employees are seen and treated as the most valuable assets of the company and due to the common set of ethical values, it is very easy to work with any other P&Ger anywhere in the world. there is always the opportunity to create depth of knowledge in a certain category or to move between categories.

Cons

Being as big as P&G is and having been around for so long, P&G tends to be conservative in its decision-making and it often takes a long time until we catch on to new trends. It can be bureaucratic and it's not always the most qualified people who are the final decision-makers. Also, there is a tendency to spend a long time on alignment and hence decision making by committee.
