Pros

P&G is great because of its diverse & welcoming culture. It is an equal opportunity employer. I have always had continuous support available from colleagues and management to help me do my job better. Although I am a temporary employee, I am still able to take (unpaid) days off whenever I need them. This allows flexibility with work and personal life. Procter & Gamble is highly recognized as one of the world's best employers. There is job security in knowing that the company earns billions of dollars annually, and is continually growing. There is no sign of P&G going out of business any time soon!

Cons

Very corporate and structured - little "leg" room and flexibility with standard operating procedures. As a temporary employee, I feel shunned by the "full-time" P&G community. I don't receive the same e-mails, I don't get invited to offsite meetings, and I don't even get the same badge! Although there are opportunities to move up the corporate ladder, it can take many many years to do so. Some positions require the employee to "lock in" for a certain number of years before leaving it. The reason for this is extremely high turnover in those positions. Although I have not yet taken the PST to be a full time employee, I have heard it is extremely difficult and only a very small portion of those that take it actually pass.

Pros

P&G has a reputation for hiring 'the best' and they treat employees as such. They expect a lot and provide the support for emplyees to challenage themselves both professionally and personally. This is rewarded by promotion from within or lateral moves to other challenging assignments. There is a strong corporate culture that is beyond comparison.

Cons

Working long hours while striving to meet work goals.

Pros

Quality people & products in a relatively predictable and stable business. Business decisions are made with deliberation and the bureaucratic weight tends to dampen any wild swings in strategy. This works well for the steady businesses in which P&G tends to compete. 'Might makes right' in the world of consumer goods and P&G has the scale to compete effectively in its core markets & categories.

Cons

Insular and narrow mindset created by the promote from within culture. While the employee base is diverse in terms of traditional measures (ethnicity, etc.), the narrowness of expected interactions and processes makes the culture rather stifling and limited. If you like robotic interactions and sameness, this is place for you.
