They just announced 15% work force reduction (layoffs). Politics, Politics, Politics. If you want to get promoted you need to learn to play the political game very early. Culturally the company is stuck in it's old ways. There was always a focus on "out executing the competition." This sounds good on paper but results in a lot of short cuts and TONS of technical debt in both HW and SW. This leads to further band-aids/hacks which just perpetuates the core issues.

Upper management doesn't clearly communicate their plans to everyone else, which is understandable for leaks and whatnot, but it's also detrimental in keeping morale. I think they're tight-lipped not because they have things to hide, but rather because they themselves don't know what they're doing. Reacting to a market versus creating a market is not good.
