Pros

They are truly a large corporation with all of the characteristics that go along with that. Good processes in place, opportunities for advancement. The best part of Raytheon are the great people who work there. Good compensation, but raise percentages were declining in the last 6 years; mirroring the employment environment; also driven by the particular area and focus of the business area you're in.

Cons

Raytheon touts their people as their best and most important asset, but that doesn't match their decisions and actions. Still a strongly dominated male environment in spite of some new female leaders appointed. More challenging for women to be recognized as innovative contributors. Very political company which drives leadership behavior, benefiting the leaderships' careers. Indianapolis has different benefits than the other RTN companies. Recommendation -- is if you have a choice, work for another division; but still a company I would work for again.

Pros

9/80 Work Schedule (Every other Friday off)

Cons

The "Forced Rating System" is used not allowing actual deserved performance ratings by supervisors (i.e. most great performers told they are doing fair only or unacceptable). there is forced employment reductions of employees over 50 years of age (their form of the movie "Logan;s Run"). Most managers are managers only with no experience about what their staff does (non-technical).

Pros

Pay seems to be at or above market. Raytheon is a big player in the defense industry, so you'll get to know it well. If you're an early career HR professional, this may be a great place to stay for a few years to get some experience.

Cons

Antiquated performance management philosophy, no real HR innovation. You're graded against your peers in order to get a raise, so no real incentive to collaborate with other HR people. Incredibly tactical, administrative HR function focused only on deadlines, not on process improvements.
