Cons

20 years at Raytheon: Lack of proper training, all but govt required training (ethics, security, IT awareness) on your own time, staff meetings on your own time; allows Hostile Work Environments; high turnover, employees quit unexpectedly; lack of training for all the employees hired replacing departures; unqualified managers; employees move up based on social networking NOT abilities & experience; employees who speak up held back; mgmt inhibits career growth opportunities; high level of retaliation; company located in southwest desert; execs send out excessive emails telling employees what a great company we are & all the actions taken to ensure it yet no follow through; medical benefits lacking.

Pros

The company doesn't care if you're deadweight, so if that's you're a slacker then consider Raytheon. The benefits are moderately good. Depending on the project you're on, they may or may not care when you come into work.

Cons

Left for a better opportunity and in the three (3) months since I left the company my PTO balance went from positive to negative, meaning I owe them money. Also, they are threatening to send me to collections due to the fact that I moved for the new job and didn't receive the first two letters they sent. Zero opportunities for growth within the company. Was asked at one point to "adjust" a Cash Account Manager's (CAM) bid on a proposal without their knowledge, which is not only unethical but illegal. Reported the incident to the ethics board and was told that I misunderstood the situation. Raises are low. Pitifully low. Doesn't matter how many hours you work, how much money you bring into the company, nothing changes that they cap the maximum raise at less than 5%.

Pros

Haven't been laid off yet! Latest program has a much better culture than previous program. Competing company wants me now!

Cons

See "Older Women Engineers Not Respected," posted July 7, 2016 Same story as 3 years ago... Haven't been promoted in more than 10 years. Served in progressively higher positions, but haven't received recognition or a significant increase in pay. Functional management is inexperienced and untrained. If you try to advocate for yourself, you will be accused of being "difficult" or having "behavior issues" and black marked. I work an average 20 hours overtime every week because my team is understaffed, is really young/green, requires lots of mentoring and coaching, and doesn't work any extra hours because they all make more $$ than I do or are at a higher level. When I bring this up to functional managers, they blame me and say I don't know how to manage my team. Fed up and ready to bolt even though only a few years away from drawing my early retirement pension! The company's no retaliation stance is "FAKE! FAKE!, FAKE! FAKE!" The company is plagued with sociopaths.
