Pros

Learning that you are the most qualified person there. Think of Raytheon as a giant retirement home, one that protects the Hughes pensions at all costs.

Cons

Working with people who are punching the clock waiting for their retirement (most of them). Arrogance runs supreme, you just have to keep telling yourself that if someone has only worked at Raytheon they are most likely retarded. The level of pure arrogance is astounding. Malaise would be a good word.

Pros

Raytheon is the place to be employed if you're fresh out of college, looking for flexible hours, want great benefits, and if you're looking for the option to work from home. Many employees are completely remote and never see their management at all. It's not uncommon for these remote working employees to live hundreds of miles away from their group and to have very little or no interaction with their team members. I've seen where some remote employees are never talked about as far as their work. To summarize, the reasons to work for Raytheon are the following: great place to start a career when you're fresh out of college, flexible hours, and great benefits.

Cons

Entirely too much management. For example, it's common for one engineer to have 3 manager-types providing input to their project (i.e. 3 manager-types directing 1 engineer). Also, there is entirely too much process bloat. Needless documentation and needless reviews are common place. Additionally, there is absolutely no sense of community or team-work. The Garland location: It's extremely drab and depressing. The office space is lighting is very poor, the wall/cube colors are dark gray, and the Garland campus is spread out. As a result of the campus being spread out, it's not uncommon to be in the dark as to what others are working on or how you fit into the picture. However, the depressing and spread out Garland campus is absolutely nothing to gripe about when compared to two main Raytheon problems: entirely too much management and too many pointless processes.
