Pros

Raytheon offers competative salaries and potentially interesting work (more so for financial analysts than for engineers these days). The training opportunities for young people are excellent. The caliber of the people is higher than any other company I have worked for or with.

Cons

For 2010, Raytheon was most likely put in the same position as many other companies and thought it necessary to cut costs with medical insurance. As a warning to anyone considering a job or career with Raytheon, you had better be perfectly healthy. Raytheon won't consider your health issues during the hiring process, but you should. The medical choices and coverage will not support even minor medical therapies. You can expect to spend several hours on the phone after every appointment and prescription refill request with the insurance company, your doctors, and your pharmacists trying to negotiate a deal for comprosied care wthin the bounds of the insurance plans. Also, men and women are not treated equally. Hard-nosed men are rewarded and exalted. Stong women are told to "not be so demanding"

Pros

Potential of opportunities to work on Defense for the United States. Very Good Health Coverage.

Cons

Very delayed and inaccurate feedback on performance. It appears to be that Program and Project Management have unwritten criteria that their dissatisfaction is to be voiced to the employee officially as "we are over budget", then to the employees department supervision as "very dissatisfied with performance." A worst case scenario is to meet the employee in the hall and tell them verbally, that they were correct is their assesment and results, but be unwilling to correct their official input. Ironically, the program personnel will use your results and output to advance their program. If my results were unsatisfactory, then why would you use them and have me update them?
