Interesting work. Good pay and work environment. Tasks are varied.

Cons

Lots of bureaucracy. Hard to put new ideas forward, or initiatives approved. Hard to get a big picture view of the project.

Pros

Great benefits. Stable work environement. Recognition and advancement.

Cons

You have to be extremely self-driven to get ahead but don't ever step on any toes. Over the last 5 years legacy systems that were the bread and butter of success have been replaced by new software driven control systems that have put handcuffs on how processes are done. Bean counters rule the programs and R&D is barely negligable. We lose valuable projects to outside vendors because we have initiated stringent new policies on ourselves that make us more expensive than outside work. There are too many chiefs and not enough indians anymore.

Pros

Raytheon is very flexible with time (flex time, paid time off, every other Friday off) which makes it a great place if you are juggling work/life balance (i.e., working parents). Raytheon also gives lots of opportunities to those who show initiative.

Cons

Raytheon prefers to train and develop talent internally. The result is a tendency to look inward rather than outwardly embracing learning opportunities. Also, training budget and opportunities are very inconsistent. Some employees get a lot and some not at all.
