Pros

Very easy going company to work for with great technology and innovation. Also the people that compose raytheon are a bunch of intelligent happy going people. great work atmosphere. With the PTO (paid Time off) that you earn every month and the ability to work from home by company provided rsa cards, Raytheon is a dream to work at. Your paid time off can be taken at anytime, even to the point that you can go in half days. Also with the ability to work from home, you can treat that in the same fashion with PTO. HR is very friendly and helpful.

Cons

Some times the customer is always right will get on your nerves seriously hard. There are times of indeciciveness especially when your a software engineer. There can be times where you will go to a software design review, get all of the specs that are to compose your product, go and make a product that complies to what was said in the Design review, and end up changing and testing your product 5 times because the customer wants to see something a certain way. When birthdays come about there is the tendancy to go out to lunch, although you could be trying to meet a deadline.

Pros

The location is great. Near the beach, near LAX, near freeway and public transport. As with any large aerospace company, you get decent health benefits, competitive pay, and employee networking groups. Work schedule is quite flexible with the option to work a 9/80.

Cons

In my department, it seems management are too busy to deal with new hires' problems. Unlike other aerospace companies, they don't give you anything to do (constructive or not) while waiting on security clearances. Which can take weeks to months. Other companies will usually find tasks that don't require clearance. Not as social an enviornment as I was expecting. Medium to low morale all around. As with any aerospace company, you are expected to work maybe 50-60 hrs/wk. Pay lower than I expected for aerospace industry.

Pros

The company has great hours, very flexible. Get your work done and basically set your own hours. Projects are different, as long as you have ownership of your work, you make your schedule. The pay is great starting out, but each year I think it just keeps up with inflation (4% max) unless you are promoted to the next level. For young engineers, the promotion process probably takes place at first 2 years, and then 3-4 years to the next level. The atmosphere is pretty laid back and co-workers were friendly. Being a young engineer, you are very valued at the company.

Cons

The pay scale will not go very high, raises are dismal. The atmosphere can get boring as projects are sometimes massive, with little knowledge of where your work will really go. The average age of employees are Raytheon is around 45, which means a young engineer may be pretty lonely. Sometimes the "laid back" atmosphere can get very boring when there is no work or very drab work that you are handed. You can be switched around to different projects depending on the need, so you have to make sure that you voice your desired projects. Sometimes I went days without talking to anyone, just doing my own work and going home.
