Pros

Time-off: 9/80 schedule allows for 9 hour workdays and every other Friday off. Many employees are hard-working for fear of social ridicule and lay-offs.

Cons

Raytheon is a heavily process driven, bloated, bureaucratic organization with many layers of middle management and few avenues for career advancement. Many of the senior level managers and executives come from firms outside of Raytheon. Finance managers have very poor people skills and refuse to be leaders. After 7 years at Raytheon, I've never seen the CEO or President of my business unit in person. Many employees feel like a disposable widget at this organization and many leave for higher paying opportunities at companies with better reputations.

Pros

When I was there, the job was very stable. I don't think it's like that anymore. People are nice. Some are really odd though (especially if you're an engineer).

Cons

No growth, especially if you're driven. Mundane work.

Pros

Pays decently well for the area, There's a lot of dead wood in the organization which makes it easy to be a "good" employee. Most senior management is located somewhere else, so if you do good work you'll be left alone. Global mentor program and training opportunities are exceptional if you know how to get hooked up.

Cons

Indianapolis is not head of a business unit, near a customer, or near the competition. If you're 28-40 years old there's always going to be someone who's done an OK job for 25 years ahead of you -even if you're considered a rising star. Indianapolis also gets fewer Holidays, less severance, and no Profit Share when compared to most other Raytheon sites. Being far from senior management also means that getting noticed is difficult. The line I hear most is "Aren't you happy you have a job?". The "One Raytheon" philosophy isn't true.
