Pros

Gets some really cool programs and has some great R&D work. Has managed to retain some incredible talent, w.r.t. electronically scanned arrays and missile radar algorithms. The matrix organizational system, while clunky, makes it easy to move within the company, as long as you demonstrate you're willing to work hard and have some talent. Consistently provides raises and bonusses every year.

Cons

Bad at managing large programs. Does not do a good job managing customers and pushing for good requirements. Does not have enough lawyers to help with the above during contract negotiations (and renegotiations). On large programs, tends to put way more pressure on employees, resulting in worse performance. Really bad at employee retention. Will refuse to match a 10% salary increase for subject matter experts and team leads with proven success.

Pros

Low stress, easy job. Nice people Ideal if you aren’t overly ambitious

Cons

Gets boring quickly Very repetitive Lots of red tape Promos seem to be tenure based not skill based (senior people on my team can’t do my job but they’re in a higher pay bracket because they’ve been here longer) Raises suck regardless, have to switch companies to get a substantial bump, causing generally happy employees to look elsewhere. Medical benefits are expensive and trash for what you pay.

Merger is Killing the Company

Pros

Name stands out on resume, benefits are average (was there for 2 years and they were constantly changing due to reorganization). 9/80 schedule. Box office tickets if you live near a major plant.

Cons

The mission is to support and cater to the shareholders. Policies were constantly changing without any notification. Many functions on benefits and job duties depending on role are being third partied out. Expect nepotism and promotion based on other factors than experience. Depending on what program you support will make or break your experience with this company. There was no appreciation or incentive (not even a genuine “thank you”, always “do more with less next quarter”) to work hard
