Pros

Mostly great co-workers, management not entirely clueless, some cool projects, popcorn

Cons

A lot like high school, if you are not in a clique, be prepared for whisper campaigns and blame games. Not a bad place to start, but don't stay more than five years. If you want to be a lifer, find a champion and mentor and actively sell yourself. Don't expect career honesty from management.

Pros

* In software engineering, very flexible/casual dress-code * Free coffee * Intuitive, friendly and energetic co-workers and staff across business sections. * Education and training are encouraged and often subsidized. * Using odd/non-industry technologies to solve real-world problems is both encouraged and applauded.

Cons

* Depending on where you are (business section), work could either be monotonous OR sporadic and multi-disciplined * Many innovative, smaller groups sadly live and die by the sword of politics if they support a larger/better funded internal program. * Politics concerning educational funding do not correctly overlap with when most industry events are taking place.

Pros

Nice benefits with good pay. Lots of good people to work with.

Cons

1) Not-invented-here syndrome is rampant. 2) Nobody wants to hear ideas. Or fund them. 3) Technologies are ancient, and no good for younger developers starting their careers (or mid-level wanting to advance their careers) 4) Upward growth is non-existent. 5) Profit-sharing gone. Employee reward system gone. 6) Policy before people.
