IIS vs SAS

Pros

I moved from SAS division to IIS division within Raytheon which I shouldnt have done. SAS - Worked with really interesting work. Very laid back atmosphere. Great management. Learned a lot since the program I worked on required SW engineers to help with everything from requirements to testing. IIS - Plenty of opportunities to move around since they needed a lot of people in all departments.

Cons

SAS - Not a lot of opportunities to move up and gain more responsibilities. Technology and SW methodologies used to develop systems was very outdated and could end up pigeon holing your career. IIS - Much more strict. Micromanaged everything.

Cons

Salary growth is minimal year to year, not a lot of incentive/bonuses based on performance for individual contributors, hard to lay off low-performance employees.

Pros

Great benefits. Provided a lot of tuition reimbursement and training. 9/80 schedules are pretty standard there and they will usually let you flex your time. Also, depending on the city you live in, local businesses will give you discounts as an employee of this company.

Cons

This is a very big company which means there is a lot of bureaucracy. Simple tasks such as getting your computer repaired could take DAYS.
