Pros

Great place to launch a career. Good exposure to technology.

Cons

The culture does not have very much freedom. Felt like I was serving a prison sentence while working there. What isadvertised should be changed to discretionary by management because that is who really decided on everything. Management should not penalize or take it personally when employees leave their organizations. They have a habit of publicly berating and exclusion like I have never seen before. Yet they advertise, "you are in control of your career." When you do take control, management will badmouth you to the rest of the organization in order to deter anyone else from doing the same. Management through fear and intimidation is not good for any business.

Pros

Flexible time off. 9/80 schedule - Work 9 hours Mon-Thurs, work 8 hours one Friday and get the next Friday off Easy going work environment. Great people to work with. Very competitive pay for the location.

Cons

Arcane, outdated, and backwards software practices. 1 Tier solution - all software goes into the database (business logic and web page design!) No career advancement opportunities. Management didn't care if the software built was unmaintainable - as long as the customer got what they wanted.

Pros

Good starting salary. Reimbursement for educational expenditures. Job stability - no layoffs. Interns get full benefits; this includes paid vacation, 401k matching, and insurance. Intern pay is based solely on academic level: incoming freshman - $15 / hour ; incoming sophomore - $17 / hour ; incoming junior - $22 / hour ; incoming senior $25 / hour. Starting salaries are based on a formula including what school your degree is from, what GPA you have, and what experience you have. Minority status also seems to be included. Former interns are given job offer preference, but they are not given higher starting salaries than other people.

Cons

Low salary growth. Insignificant promotion raises. You get paid more if you start off with a masters degree than if you earn one while working at Raytheon.
