Pros

For a government contractor, Benefits are good and Raytheon is competitive. Management is supportive of employees careers and encourages further education and training.

Cons

Upper management encourages innovative ideas and thinking from young engineers, but, Raytheon performs government contracting where the limits of innovation can be constrained by the contract that an engineer is assigned.

Pros

Raytheon is very flexible with time (flex time, paid time off, every other Friday off) which makes it a great place if you are juggling work/life balance (i.e., working parents). Raytheon also gives lots of opportunities to those who show initiative.

Cons

Raytheon prefers to train and develop talent internally. The result is a tendency to look inward rather than outwardly embracing learning opportunities. Also, training budget and opportunities are very inconsistent. Some employees get a lot and some not at all.

There's currently a lot of growth and opportunities available - lots of room for movement and learning.

Cons

The majority of the population is senior, has worked in the industry forever, and are reluctant to listen to someone younger who might have new ideas for how to improve. So the typical managment person is an older white male, and that can be difficult to navigate.
