Pros

The customer you are supporting makes your work very rewarding. You know that you are impacting the lives of your customer each day. The work environment was very friendly and each person was easy to get along with. The team I was on held fun outings every few months. The management team I was under communicated very well with us and let us know how we could improve and rewarded us when we went the extra mile. The people were very willing to show you new things and help you learn new areas of the system. Teamwork was very important in the group I was a part of.

Cons

The location I was at and the specific program I was on did not have many opportunities for advancement. I had to look outside my immediate program.

Pros

Interesting work that contributes to the country. Good at trying in the purpose of current tasking to end goals. Answering the question of 'Why does this matter' or 'Why does my job matter'. Great advancement oportunities and potential. If you are a hard worker and quick at learning new stuff - you can do well. Less politics than many other places. Good at conducting and supporting training oportunities. Offer dozens of technical classes to expand your skill set. Feed back on performance. Great people to work with.

Cons

Large company with bueracracy, though less than many others. Lots of work - it will take over your life if you let it.

Pros

Raytheon provides a very flexible work environment which allows telecommuting when necessary. Also Raytheon has a firm stake in the educational advancement of its employees. The company has provided a lot of funding to obtian a MSEE degree and further down the line a PhD degree to transition into a technical leadership role. Also once management determines your value they tend to really challenge you with an abundance of work and if successful can lead to very nice raises and promotions. Overall Raytheon is a good place to work, stable employment, very good benefits, and nice people. I would recommend it.

Cons

Raytheon rushes projects because most of its leadership does not possess the knowledge to make good technical decisions or do not ask the right people fo rinput. This leads to a very hectic work life filled with panic. Many times you are forced to work over time to catch up on bogus estimates. Compensation is also limited to annual budgets and too many layers of management make obtaining recognition hard unless your management truly fights for you. Also many of the jobs at Raytheon require US Government clearance that can place restrictions on where you go on vacation or who you may associate with.
