Good pay from what I saw, competent people. Regular check-ins on project progress.
Cons
Despite those regular check-ins, disconnects between project managers and engineers about deadlines and setbacks would make everyone's lives more difficult. Some minor nepotism.
There is a varied work allowing for much growth. Corporate HR offsite is very helpful. Company offers free classes to help specialize.
Cons
Management is very disorganized, local HR can be hard to reach. Finding office supplies is extremely difficult. Was given 4 post-its when asked for a pack.
Really smart coworkers, really interesting work, and really important work. Also pays well for the area, including graduate education reimbursement.
Most coworkers have a cynically optimistic view of the bureaucracy, which is refreshing.
Cons
Cubicles, limited career advancement opportunities (besides the grad education track), and Dilbert is no longer a hilarious cartoon for me because it's way too real.
The bureaucracy, if not dealt with humorously, can be depressing.
