Pros

Relatively flexible schedules & homeworking possibilities, average compensation. Job security (at least in Europe), although this may change in the forthcoming months.

Cons

A lot of internal politics which impact promotions, career progress, constant re-organizations, etc. SAP has been on strong budget cuts for at least 3 years which affects bonuses, possibilities to get training (in relevant topics), hiring, travel. Constant reorganizations that impact teams & projects and are done regardless of skills, individual (or team) performance. Constantly shutting down and restarting new projects has a strong negative impact on career and skill development. Management is incompetent. Working at SAP is not recommended at all.

Pros

Very good, trusting, respectful work environment and people. The company truly cares about investing in people and there is some flexibility in working hours and ability to work from home. Very good benefits and good free lunch. Work can be interesting, depending on the project.

Cons

As a huge company which is being challenged by smaller, leaner competitors, there are communication challenges, too many layers of management, coordination with teams all over the world in different time zones. SAP is feeling threatened by other cloud competitors who are cheaper and provide better user experiences. This can lead to chaotic project environments, many changes, re-organizations, sometimes hurts work-life balance, too many meetings and not enough interesting development work at times but at other times, stress to churn out lots of code in bursts. It is never boring that's for sure! And turnover is rather low due to good pay and benefits.
