Pros

I live local and I love chatting to our customers especially the elderly. Most of our staff are fab too but some can be a bit off with staff who are older than them ( I'm 57 )

Cons

We now run post office counters which a lot of villagers are unhappy about because the old one closed down. They can be very rude to us but things seem to be getting better

Cons

i do find that spar can sit down and maybe do better range off promotions as some times the things thay put on there end bays are not good looking to any one that walked in the door

Pros

The best reasons to work here are that you get to develop your skills and can begin your career at the company, simply by working your way up the chain of command in order to get to the role you would like to be in. Specific managers and colleagues make life extremely easy for you as they are supportie and want to help you get to where you want to be. Spar is a giant network where hundreds of friendships have formed.

Cons

Some challenges are the lack of benefits for working for the company (for young people and students alike, who do the same job if not more than some of the older staff employed at the same level). Minimum wage or slightly above it is not enough to live on, so you have to put in more hours of work than staff at Sainsburys or Asda and these hours accompanied with work placements and university/college work make the life of a student a lot less social.
