Pros

Colleagues and teams are supportive and collaborative when given the right environment. Benefits package is competitive, and the company’s foundation work is commendable.

Cons

Employee feedback, especially around long commutes and hybrid flexibility, is ignored, leading to a culture of mistrust. The rigid three-day minimum in-office rule disregards those who work better from home, reducing overall productivity and satisfaction. Disciplinary threats for non-compliance with in-office attendance further create a negative and fear-driven culture. Morale has plummeted due to recent news of the office closure, with many employees feeling undervalued and disregarded.

We appreciate your feedback and have read through your comments. Please note that our hybrid working approach is an important element of the way we work at Sage that is complemented by other benefits such as paid time to volunteer, the ability to work away for up to 10 weeks a year and free well-being support tools. We recently also answered several colleagues' questions about the new 3-day policy. If you've not already seen this communication on our internal intranet site, we encourage you to when you can. It sheds more light on how colleagues will be supported as they adhere to our updated hybrid structure. More information about what we offer can be found here https://www.glassdoor.co.uk/Benefits/Sage-United-Kingdom-Benefits-EI_IE1150.0,4_IL.5,19_IN2.htm - Thanks for taking the time to leave your review. We’ll continue to work hard to improve how we enable colleagues to thrive.

Pros

Flexible working hours Informal dress code

Cons

Too many layers of management Abit disorganised and having to can projects a few years down the line due to underestimation. Expected to do unpaid overtime even when you have other commitments.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We've noted your concerns which shall be factored into our continuous improvement plans; sorry you had a disappointing experience at Sage. As part of our Simplification plan, we're revising our management structures to streamline operations and facilitate better workflow processes. This work spreads across to prioritisation of objectives which, given how rapidly the world of work and business changes, are expected to change from time to time to suit, That being said, we know there's lots of room for improvement and shall keep our eyes fixated on the ball as a result. Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback; we wish you the best in the next chapter of your career!

Pros

Some good people working at Sage. Some flexibility in how we approach work.

Cons

The main problem is far too many senior managers including numerous Vice Presidents, EVPs, Global Directors, Directors and countless other senior managers. If you need something done, nobody knows who to approach, few of those managers will take any responsibility and the standard response to difficult questions is "ask your line manager" as if your line manager is empowered to answer. Too many people in non-engineering roles that simply aren't needed whilst technical staff are undervalued. HR have brought back rank and yank with the new appraisal scheme, there's an external recruitment freeze for 2024 and redundancies are constant pointing to things not being as positive as the share price indicates.

We are grateful to receive your feedback and sorry that your experience at Sage is not more positive. At the moment, we have been rolling out extensive all-company-wide leadership training courses to enhance the quality of support available to our colleagues as we embrace a culture more firmly rooted in high performance. This includes further empowering our management teams to take charge of leading their teams to extraordinary outcomes without having to rely heavily on the support from those above them. To your point on internal hiring, our decision to primarily focus on this was made in line with our commitment to developing our in-house talent first before looking externally. It is true though, that in some areas of the business, there is some ongoing restructuring and given how these undertakings affect hard-working and committed individuals, those decisions are not being taken lightly. However, in our case, they are not indicative of a misdirection either but rather the areas being reframed are simply to ensure they fit within the wider business context so that the whole company is strategically positioned to keep delivering on its promises to its stakeholders. We know we have room to improve and your feedback has been noted for us to keep doing so.
