Pros

Salesforce.com does some of the best web-based marketing from the public website, in the industry. The product just plain works and works well. The speed at which we are able to innovate and add new features is astounding. We are now more then, just a CRM company and ready to go to the next level and join the handful of software companies that exceed $1B a year in revenue

Cons

The pace of change and new features added into the products causes a heavy burden to stay current, but then that is what attracts a lot of people to this company, the pace of change and making change in the industry. We have grown quickly and some "infrastructure" pieces are a little behind, but we are getting there

Pros

Working for salesforce.com means you are participating the build-out of the next wave of computing. The product is startling in its capability, quality, technology and elegance. The culture is young, dynamic, can-do and constantly on the move - very innovative and always looking for the next place in the market to be. It's energizing. The location of the offices, in downtown San Francisco, make it a great place to work (contrast with the usual Silicon Valley bunker-like low-rise in an industrial park). I had highly flexible working arrangements (work from home, flexible hours) but I know that is not available to everybody.

Cons

A very young, aggressive, smart and energized workforce has its downside: intense politics. If you are not in the right place or plugged in with the right crowd, it's hard to get ahead. Socializing after work is important, and if you are not into that or can't because of a long commute, then you can't network. You may just end up left on the sidelines.

Pros

The product is fantastic, most of the people are great (very bright, very motivated, great teamwork), and Marc continues to provide a great vision for the company.

Cons

Sometimes a boys club and the company doesn't enforce the "no-asshole" rule. A few people are more motivated by politics or what's in it for them and aren't willing to step up and do what's right for the company or the team. This is probably true everywhere, but it's disappointing that at sfdc these people end up getting rewarded.
