Pros

If you are on the right team, in the right org, with the right management, the work life balance is good.

Cons

Overall pay less than other big tech companies and are not on the cutting edge of any software. There is a lot of poor management and leadership rotting the company from the top down. Constantly in fear of layoffs. Not based on performance, budget cutting layoffs for shareholders. Whole teams get wiped out. They have been cutting benefits year after year. Our share of insurance goes up and the coverage goes down. The push of return to office is maddening. They hired a ton of people for remote positions and then are trying to force these same people back into the office, where they lack the space, tech support and equipment to have all of these people return to office. There are a lot of bad rules around promotions and pay increases that will keep your pay and level stagnant. Over my entire course of employment, every promo cycle had a freeze on promos and "their hands were tied to give wage increases" We are always in a hiring freeze meaning you can't even switch teams or apply internally for new roles. You won't be able to backfill any positions on your team when people leave. You will soon be over worked and undercompensated. When things open back up, it is the last thing on managements mind to address and you will be screwed. The only way to get ahead at this company is to leave and come back. But I would caution going back with all of the cuts to benefits. If they don't have, decent benefits, remote work and a decent work/life balance, there is no reason to take the low salary.

Pros

Pay was good. It used to be fully remote.

Cons

Weird CEO, back to office mandate. I was the sole developer on a project for an experimental role and when they got rid of me it probably meant the project and months of work were scraped.
